Wednesday Hodgepodge

It’s Wednesday again and it’s time to answer a hodgepodge of questions, thanks to Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.

1. What area of your life feels like you’re stuck in a Groundhog’s Day loop, doing the same thing over and over? Does it bother you or is that just how life is in this particular season?

For me, it has to be cleaning the house. No sooner have I washed up and wiped down the kitchen and it needs doing again. The laundry basket is always full no matter how much washing I do. It’s a never-ending cycle and there is always something that needs doing.

Some days it bothers me more than others but then I try to remind myself how lucky I am to have a home and a family that I get to take care of. One day my home will be quiet and things will stay clean and tidy but not just yet.

2. Something that makes your heart skip a beat?

I don’t mind if this sounds mushy but my heart still skips a beat when my husband comes home from work and I haven’t seen him all day. He’s my best friend and the love of my life and he still gives me butterflies.

3. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve or are you more of a closed book? Elaborate.

I think I have been a mixture of both throughout my life. Nowadays I’m more of a heart-on-the-sleeve kind of person. I’m a much truer version of myself today after years of therapy and hard work. I display my feelings and emotions and I am much better at communicating my needs.

I spent many years building walls around myself as it wasn’t safe or accepted to show feelings and emotions.

4. According to Prevention Magazine, these are 25 of the best foods for heart health-

wild salmon, sardines, liver, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, oatmeal, blueberries, coffee, red wine, green tea, soy milk, dark chocolate, raisins, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, whole grains, apples, oranges, grapefruit, avocado, avocado oil, olive oil

Which five do you include in your diet most often? Are there any foods on the list you simply cannot abide?

Some of my favourite foods are on this list! I regularly include salmon, walnuts, almonds, broccoli and dark chocolate. I like lots of the foods and drinks on the list but I stay away from Brussels sprouts. I’ve tried to like them over the years but I just can’t do it they are truly awful.

5. What was the last piece of furniture you bought? Is there a piece of furniture you need/want to purchase this year?

I bought an OLSERÖD side table from Ikea for my husband and I think it might be the best piece of furniture I’ve ever bought. You can slide it right in front of you so it’s perfect for the laptop or eating your meals off. He uses it for his hobbies in the evenings while I’m blogging or watching TV. I’m thinking of getting one for myself.

I would really like to purchase a new sofa this year as ours although very comfy is very old. It’s showing signs of wear and tear and will need replacing in the next year or so.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I’ve been thinking about spring a lot this past week. I think it’s the beautiful blue skies we’ve had and spotting snowdrops at the park that have made me think about it. I love the colder months especially autumn but I’m more than ready for some new growth and renewal.

I’m eagerly awaiting my first sighting of daffodils in the wild, my fingers are crossed I will spot some this week when I’m walking the dog.

  1. I don’t mind cleaning the house, it’s the laundry which gets to me! lol
Aww! That is so sweet about your husband.
It is feeling more spring like here especially with the blue skies! I am ready for it. x

  2. I listed chores for groundhog day too – even though there are only 2 of us in the house and it stays fairly tidy there are always chores and laundry to do lol.

  3. I love the snowdrops, one of my favorites. We have daffodils popping up but not in bloom yet. They typically bloom in February where I live. It’s sweet (and a good thing) to still get that ‘skip a beat’ feeling about a spouse : ) Have a great day!
