This week’s word of the week is cosy and what a lovely word it is. The temperature has definitely dropped this week, the mornings have been chilly and we even had a thick fog one morning. That type of weather always makes me feel like I want to be extra cosy.
My house has felt a lot cosier than usual this week, I think it’s a mixture of earlier evenings and having the heating on. We always put twinkly lights up in the living room in November to make it feel a little less bare after taking the Halloween decorations down. I think twinkly lights make any room look cosy.
I’ve been burning my favourite gingerbread candle from Home Bargains which has made the house smell amazing. A delivery driver even commented how nice the house smelled when I answered the door for a parcel. I have also ordered myself a candle for my birthday, it’s croissant-scented and I can’t wait for it to arrive.
The colder weather has meant I can wear all my cosy favourite clothes. I’m living in joggers, long-sleeved tops and jumpers and I love it. I found an amazing scarf in the charity shop a couple of weeks ago, it’s so soft and perfect for when I’m walking the dog.
This time of year is my favourite, there’s nothing better than snuggling on the sofa with blankets, a good book or a TV show while it’s dark and cold outside. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I also wrote a blog post about my favourite things about autumn that made me feel very cosy indeed.
I almost forgot to mention the comfort food we have eaten this week. One night I roasted a chicken and ate it while it was still hot on some crusty bread with stuffing. I also made sausages, mash, gravy and Yorkshire puddings. I’m trying to include a couple of comfort food dishes in the weekly menu for autumn and winter. If you have any ideas then do leave me a comment.
What makes you feel cosy?
It has got colder this week, my WotW is Cold. lol
I love getting cosy at this time of year! The gingerbread candles from Home Bargains are amazing! My family usually hate scented candles but the gingerbread one is allowed.
You can’t beat sausage and mash at this time of year! I think anything with mash goes down well here. x
This post made me feel cosy! I’m intrigued to know how a croissant-scented candle smells 🙂

You can’t beat comfort food when it gets colder, we are going to have a roast this week when we are well enough to cook. I love fairy lights, but unfortunately we are only allowed them on the Christmas tree because of sensory issues. the tree gets turned off a lot too 🙁
Cosy is a lovely word. It is nice to snuggle indoors under a blanket at this time of year. How lovely to have twinkly lights indoors and the gingerbread candle sounds amazing. I do love nice winter comfort food. Sausage and mash and roast chicken always go down well here too. Stew and dumplings is also great at this time of year. #WotW
Brilliant post! Even though I’m in sunny florida, I did feel cosy imagining the cold and all the comfort foods. My favorite type of food for the season is soup of different kinds. What’s your favourite?
