This week has been all about finding a new routine for Jake and me now that Daisy is at school full-time. It’s been the first proper week of just us two. Chris was off work last week and Daisy didn’t start school until Wednesday so there wasn’t much chance to establish a new one.
I am one of those people who thrive on routine, I’m not inflexible but I do like to plan ahead as I find this helps me and the children seem to respond better as well.
I’m happy so far with how our new routine is going, It’s lovely that I’m getting to spend some quality time one-on-one with Jake I’m seeing a different side to his personality and of course, it’s much easier entertaining one child than two. Jake still has an afternoon nap so I’ve been taking advantage of the time and getting some extra work done (drinking coffee and catching up on soaps might have slipped in there too).
I’ve also been organising a new routine for blogging, I’ve been taking part in a productivity challenge that Aby from You Baby Me Mummy has been running it’s been so helpful and motivational and I’ve got lots of new ideas and plans for the blog.
I’m linking up with Jocelyn from The Reading Residence for Word of the Week.
Do you work better with a routine? leave me a comment below I love hearing from you.
Angela xx
I do love a routine…It makes life much easier.
It sounds like the productivity challenge is going well. Good luck with the rest of it x
Thanks Kim it’s certainly keeping me motivated x
Routine is what keeps things ticking over. Having one left at home is always a special bonding time. It’s been a long while for me.
You soon forget don’t you Anne, I plan to make the most of it with Jake before he starts nursery.
Got to love a new routine! Sounds like it is working out well for you hun. Must be nice having some one on one time with Jake and that time for a cuppa!! Have a good weekend xx #wotw
Thanks lovely, it’s so nice having a few hours of me time every afternoon too 🙂
Sounds like the new routine’s working out well for you, and your productivity challenge. All is going smoothly! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
Thanks Jocelyn x
Lordy yes. Two kids with autism and ADHD, even if it all seems S bit scatty it’s following a routine and a pattern. I’ve always worked that way too I think! Hope it goes -continues well! #wotw
I agree routine is such an individual thing no right or wrong way x
Not a big fan of routine, but I appreciate how much it keeps things in order like you mentioned. I’m actually loving it more now 🙂 #wotw
Routines are not for everyone but I think we can all find one to suit and they can be flexible.
Like you I love routine. I get stressed when something would suddenly come up & would mess with my schedule. I am also a planner. I need to plan things before it happens otherwise I would feel like I am not ready! #wotw
Me too Merlinda I would feel lost without a plan.
I go through stages of loving routine and then not. I can see the advantages, but at the same time, I love flexibility. I’m lucky that when I get a creative idea, I can usually find the time to do it. I’m not sure a rigid routine would let me. #wotw
It’s about finding what works for you isn’t it, I’m always trying out different routines.
Yes there sure is a difference entertaining more than one. I feel like I’m juggling here. I undertook Aby’s e-course too and found it reassuring. Do you have a blog buddy? #WotW
I don’t have a blog buddy, would be more than happy to pair up with you if you like x
you’re on. Thank you 🙂
I hope your accountability buddy knows you’ve been watching soaps Angela 😉 lol Great to get into routine though and it certainly helps when you’ve challenges to do! #wotw
oops they do now 🙂 x
Definitely much easier with just one child at home! We’ve been quite relaxed about routine over the summer but I have to admit I’m enjoying having more of a routine now that Jessica is at school. Glad to hear yours has also included drinking coffee and catching up with soaps – very important to make sure you have time for yourself too! 🙂 #WotW
