A few times a month we make time to sit down as a family to play games. The kids love the excitement and we love seeing their faces light up when they win. University Games recently sent us the Don’t Rock The Boat game to review. The kids were delighted as the game includes a pirate ship and penguins and looked like lots of fun.

Don’t Rock The Boat is a game of skill and balance. You will need a steady hand to take turns balancing your penguin crew on the ship. If the penguins fall overboard then you lose and may have to walk the plank!

I love the details on the pirate penguins, how cute are those wooden legs or flippers should I say?

Setting up the game was quick and simple which is great when you have eager kids that are ready to play. All of the pieces including the penguins fit in the underside of the ship for storage when you pack the game away.

There were many squeals of delight when we had a few practice runs of balancing the penguins. I think the kids would have been happy to watch the penguins tip off the boat instead of actually playing the game.

Once we were ready to play we each took it in turns to balance a penguin on the ship. Tension was high as we wondered who would be first to rock the boat and lose.

Poor Jake, who by far is the least dexterous of us all was the first to rock the boat. He didn’t mind though. He found it rather hilarious seeing all the penguins tip off the boat into the imaginary shark-infested waters.

Daisy had a great time, she tried so hard to be careful and steady but we couldn’t resist trying to make her laugh. We all had a really great time playing, I can see this being much requested at our next game night.
