Project 365-Week 17

Project 365-Week 17

Week 17 of Project 365 has been a good one. I’m still missing our cat Mo, but have been thinking of all the nice memories we have of him. The vets sent us a condolence card and included some seeds to plant, which was so lovely of them.

I’ve focused on spring cleaning and decluttering this week, which is something that always makes me feel better.

On Sunday, the kids woke up to their Easter eggs and gifts and were very happy. Although I love an event to celebrate, I don’t really do much for Easter at all nowadays. I don’t decorate the house like I do for Halloween and Christmas, I just don’t get the same buzz from it.

We spent the day pottering about and getting some jobs done around the house. In the afternoon, my daughter, her fiancé and our grandson came and set up an egg hunt for the kids in the garden. They had a great time trying to find all the chocolate goodies.

Monday was a bank holiday and I had planned on taking the kids to the museum in our town to see an exhibition. It turns out that the museum doesn’t open on a Monday, so we decided to get some things done at home that we’ve been putting off instead.

I took Indie on a rather drizzly walk in the morning and noticed how green everything has become in the past week or so.

Chris had a day off work on Tuesday, so after going to a SATS meeting at Jake’s school, we treated ourselves to some breakfast. We tried Tim Horton’s as we’ve never been before, and it didn’t disappoint. They had an offer where you could get any breakfast item for £1.19 if you bought a drink. I had the Maple Bacon Pancakes, and Chris had a Breakfast Wrap. They were so delicious. We bought some of their doughnuts to take home for the kids after school.

I spent Wednesday deep cleaning and organising the house out, I was really in the mood for a good spring clean. It was a very productive day, and I felt very accomplished, but I hadn’t taken any photos. I remembered just before I went to bed, so I snapped this photo of a print I got from the charity shop a few weeks ago. Life certainly is weird and wonderful.

I noticed that lots of blossoms have started falling from the trees on my walk on Thursday morning. Even though the trees look a little less colourful without them, the petals make a stunning carpet.

Another day of deep cleaning and decluttering for me on Friday. Chris is going to take the things I’ve decluttered and sorted to the recycling centre this weekend, so I wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed anything.

Chris bought me these beautiful flowers, I love the contrast of colours. I love having fresh flowers in the house.

Thanks to me being so organised, the rest of the week we really didn’t have much to do on Saturday. I went to a couple of charity shops first thing and picked up some nice bits and pieces. At lunchtime, the kids had haircuts. Our hairdresser has a salon in her home, and she’s just the loveliest person ever. She’s been cutting my hair for 17 years, so I view her as a friend too. She’s just returned from a holiday to Thailand, so she was telling us all about her wonderful trip.

In the evening, we played Monopoly, and I got to be the banker. Daisy wasn’t happy about that, as it was usually her job. We didn’t get quite to the end of the game, as it could have gone on for hours, but we did have a good time. Chris was declared the winner as he owned the most properties. Does anyone ever play Monopoly to the end and follow the actual rules? We never do it’s more fun that way.

  1. We never finish monopoly, it gets a bit tedious, plus there’s usually only 2 of us playing. So much blossom blowing around here too – always a shame when it falls. That’s a nice load of Easter goodies. We don’t do anything different for it reall.y

  2. You have been keeping youself busy with the spring cleaning.
We don’t do much for Easter either, it’s just a nice long weekend for us.
I’ve heard of Tim Horton’s but have never tried it. It looks like a good breakfast!
What beautiful flowers and I love a game of Monopoly but not with my family, they cheat! lol x

  3. That’s a nice Easter stash! I don’t decorate the house for Easter, but I do enjoy cooking a big spread.
Don’t think I’ve heard of Tim Horton, but the breakfast offer sounds very good.
What a beautiful colourful bunch of flowers! The petals keep falling, which makes me a bit sad.
Monopoly is great, if the whole family takes part (I prefer the Cluedo).

  4. Lovely to do some decluttering. Everywhere definitely looks much more green now. Love the print from the charity shop – life is definitely weird at times. Those flowers are beautiful. I love having fresh flowers in the house too. Sounds like you had a fun game of Monopoly. I haven’t played it for years but I don’t think we’ve ever managed to get to the end of a game either! #project365

  5. Now that’s what I call proper blossom, I’d so love a tree like that in the garden, I used to have one in my old house, made for some great photos when the kids were tiny. How lovely of the vet, we had some forget me knot seeds when Bob the dog died and they’re flowering now for the 2nd year. I decorated the house for Easter with the Christmas tree for the grandchildren. I do Halloween also and other events is just a few table and window decorations.
