This weeks word couldn’t be anything but books. We’ve celebrated world book day, been to the library and won a lovely book for Easter. There’s also the fact that I have reading fever at the moment and have been whizzing through the pages of my latest book.
I used to read a ton, in fact I would usually devour at least three books a week. Life got in the way and for almost six years I barely turned a page or finished a story. On my 40th birthday last year I made a promise to myself that I would find time to read every single day. I started off slowly with just one chapter a day. I’m back into the swing of things now finishing at least one book a week.
I’m having so much fun rediscovering my love for books. There’s bookstagram, book tube and a whole load of terminology like TBR and ARC to learn about.
Daisy is also racing through books at the moment. Our trips to the library have become more frequent so we can stock up on chapter books for her. I’m planning on scouring the charity shops later this month so I can fill her bookshelf with plenty of new books.
Last but not least we celebrated world book day on Thursday. Daisy chose to dress up as the little mermaid while Jake insisted on wearing his batman costume. All of my kids love reading and that’s something I’m very proud of.
A lovely book arrived this week that I won from Egmont publishing. It’s called The First Egg Hunt and is a lovely book, perfect for Easter reading. I’ve been entering lots of bookish competitions so I’m hoping for some more wins in March.
You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Nice .
I’ve got reading fever too at the moment, have been caught up in Youtube, Instagram and Twitter watching and reading about books when my nose hasn’t been in one reading.
One of my very favourite words! Sounds like a wonderful week to me and it’s great to hear that you’ve rediscovered your love of reading again, it can often be about forming the habit to read, can’t it? Glad you’re enjoying it! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
Books is a lovely word for the week. I read so little these days apart from reading to and with the girls. It is lovely to see children enjoying books. Glad to hear that you are enjoying making time to read more too 🙂 #WotW
Best word for sure! I’m reading a heavy duty text book at the moment, so slightly envious of your at least a book a week triumph. Charity shops are brilliant for children’s books. We give them back after a while, so it feels more like a library with an easy going return system. Love World Book Day. Our last year as youngest will be in secondary next year and no-one dresses up. Hope you have a good weekend. #wotw
Great word for this week. I’ve been getting back into books too, but I’ve been listening to them instead, it makes it a lot easier on my eyes and I can get other stuff done at the same time. My kids managed to get into school for World Book Day which was nice. I do wish they would read more though, they used to, but lately it seems there are so many other things to do.
I love reading a good book especially when it is horribly cold outside X #wotw
I love reading and my family do too – nothing better than a bookshop on a cold miserable afternoon.
Ahh! How wonderful! Books is a great word…I never find the time to read now. I blame blogging. Instead of books I read blogs. lol
Nothing beats a good book 🙂 I have one I need to finish 😀
We been reading a lot since its snowing and we have nowhere to go.
I have been going back to reading. A pricey hobby but I am always thinking that books are not luxury but necessity not only to me but my son. He is reading Harry Potter and is in book 5 now. I am just so happy that he is a reader!
Congratulations on your win. I havent won anything lately, you are so lucky!

A very bookish week – one of the best kinds in my opinion. #WotW
Books sure are a delight and great to bury oneself in when it’s been so cold #WotW
Oh I just adore book, I have read every night since I was a little girl, I cant remember a time not reading books. Although it takes me ages to finish a book. Can you imagine a world without book x
