Project 365 Week 20- Vintage Reads and Sweet Treats

Week 20 of Project 365 had a nice mix of everyday moments and little surprises. I found some lovely vintage books while browsing the charity shop, spent a fair bit of time tapping away on the laptop, admired how well the geraniums are coming along, and lucked out with a Too Good To Go bag from the bakery, always a win!

After a busy couple of days celebrating Jake’s birthday, it was nice to have a slower pace on Sunday. I pottered around in the morning, doing to usual Sunday cleaning jobs before we took Jake to spend his money at Smyths Toys. He only chose one Lego set and decided to save the rest of his money for now.

After lunch, I visited my two favourite charity shops; they never let me down. I’ve been looking for a new bag for ages, but I was being very specific about what I wanted. I found the perfect bag by a brand I love (Weird Fish), and it was in great condition.

I also picked up some vintage kids’ books, some more scrapbooking supplies and a few cute little trinkets.

I love spotting new flowers when I’m on my dog walk with Indie. These dog roses ( I think that’s what they are called) are just starting to bloom along the brook. When I was a kid, I used to pick the petals off and try and make perfume from them. Does anyone else remember doing that?

Monday was another lovely sunny day, although we did get a spot of rain in the morning and late afternoon. I spent the day in front of my laptop working.

On Tuesday, I worked for most of the day, although I did have to have a nap in the afternoon. Learning how to pace myself has been very hard for me as someone who likes to keep busy. I know the consequences of not pacing with my conditions, so I make resting and listening to my body a priority nowadays.

I almost forgot to take any photos today, so I snapped a quick photo of these lovely purple flowers growing near the drain in the garden. Google Lens is telling me that it’s called Campanula.

Another day in front of my laptop on Wednesday, so nothing much interesting to take a photo of. This is my first Too Good To Go Bag in a long time. I paid £2.59 for a Greggs bag and got five items included. I thought it was pretty good, there was a sandwich baguette, perfect for the next day’s lunch for Chris, a pasty and three sweet treats.

I want to try a few of the supermarket bags as I’ve heard they are pretty good.

I spent Thursday morning cleaning the bathroom and mopping all the floors. There was also quite a bit of life admin to do, like renewing the car insurance, paying the road tax and submitting readings to a new supplier. It was a very productive morning indeed.

I was so excited to see the first blooms of the geranium appearing in the garden. I went out to take some photos for this week’s Word of the Week blog post and spotted them.

Friday was another beautiful day. How lucky we have been with the weather so far this month. I let Indie off the lead this morning as there was nobody else around, and she headed straight into the long grass that she loves.

I treated myself to an afternoon of entering competitions, watching TV and having a nap.

On Saturday morning, Indie went for a groom and we ran some errands. Of course, I visited some charity shops, it’s my favourite thing to do on a weekend. I usually visit on a Sunday, but I want to have a nice, relaxing day tomorrow at home, so I went today instead.

It was slim pickings this week, but I did pick up a bargain jigsaw for 50p and a brand new Pukka notebook for £1, so I came away happy.

  1. What a lovely sounding week!
Good on Jake for saving some of his birthday money and what a great hauls from the charity shops. I love that bag.

  2. I do love a charity shop haul.
I am still waiting for our climbers to flower, hopefully it won’t be too long. Good luck for the competitions

  3. Sounds like you had a fab week. I’m loving all of your charity shop hauls, you find the best things!
The flowers are so pretty, I love all of the colours at this time of the year.
What a great pic of Indie enjoying the sunshine on her walk, she’s beautiful. x

  4. Sounds like a nice calm week. Our charity shops don’t open on Sundays which is frustrating because I can’t always get there on Saturdays to drop off our things so they’ve been cluttering up my bedroom for ages. Hopefully will get to one for a nosy in half term. We used to do a lot of rose perfume making when we were kids. Always smelt pretty rank in the end.

  5. That puzzle for only 50p is such a good bargain. I like doing puzzles around Christmas, but I would buy them throughout the year. The only concern I have is that the charity ones might have missing pieces.
Love the pictures of the flowers and the dog, of course.

  6. What a great week. I enjoy thrifting at charity shops too. It’s a treat when I get to. Your dog is just precious.
    Visiting today from MMBC

  7. Love the bag you picked up in the charity shop and your collection of vintage books. We have dog roses in our front garden and I love them. I remember making perfume from rose petals as a kid too. So lovely to see all the flowers blooming now. Indie looks very happy enjoying the sunshine in the long grass. #project365

  8. You have some great finds from the charity shops, I never seem to find anything I like at a reasonable price. Love the Weird Fish bag. Happy belated birthday to Jake.
