The last Wednesday of April has arrived, and it’s time to answer some Wednesday Hodgepodge questions.
1. My very first edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge was published on November 10, 2010 (linked here if you’re curious). Tell us something about your life from that era.
2010 was a pretty significant year for me, as it’s the year my first marriage ended and also the year that I met and fell in love with my soulmate, Chris. There were so many ups and downs during this year, but ultimately it would set me on the path to a new life that I could have only dreamt about.
2. What’s a song you love that relates to time in some way?
I love the song Cassi O by George Ezra. He wrote it after travelling around Europe by train, and I love the way he incorporates the time theme into the fun lyrics. It’s very catchy and great to dance to.
3. May is nearly upon us. When did you last need to yell ‘MAY DAY-MAY DAY!!’?
I honestly can’t think of the last time I had to do this. I’m pretty self-sufficient and don’t ask for help unless absolutely necessary.
4. How do you feel about food trucks? Is this a dining experience you enjoy? Do you have a favorite What’s something you’ve ordered from a food truck?
I like food trucks, I think they are a really good way to try different cuisines that you maybe haven’t had before, without having to go to a restaurant. They are not something I eat from very often, as they can be quite expensive.
I like a variety of cuisines, so I will choose whatever takes my fancy at the time. Something memorable that I ordered from a food truck at a festival was mac’n’cheese topped with crispy onions, and it was delicious.
5. We’re bidding farewell to April…what are three adjectives you might use to describe the month you’re leaving behind.
April seems to have flown past in the blink of an eye! The three adjectives I would use for this month are:
Blooming: All of the blooming plants, trees, and wildlife have sprung to life in April.
Mournful: The sadness of mourning a lost pet who was loved dearly.
Contented: Feeling happy and content, and ever so grateful for this wonderful life.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I’ve been listening to a really good book this week called Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen, and it’s really got me thinking (no pun intended) about how much we get in our own way. There are some fantastic quotes and metaphors in the book, but this one below is my favourite.

Your food truck mac and cheese looks very good!
So sorry about the loss of your pet, it’s so hard to lose them, they add so much happiness to our lives.

That book sounds fantastic and I love that quote. x
I’m glad 2010 ended up being a blessing in disguise. That mac and cheese looks so good. I hadn’t thought about topping it with crispy onions, but might need to try that next time we have mac and cheese. It’s not often, but having my grandkids nearby now gives me an excuse to make it : ) Have a great day!
Lovely to hear that 2010 got better for you after meeting Chris. Finding your soulmate is precious.
