Today, my youngest son, Jake, turns 11 years old, so I thought the perfect word would be birthday. I’m scratching my head, wondering where the last 11 years have gone, to be honest. With his birthday falling on a Friday, he unfortunately has to go to school, but there will be plenty of fun and celebrating when he gets home.
Birthday Plans
Jake has requested pastries for his birthday breakfast, and he wants to wake up a little earlier to enjoy his presents. We have bought him some Lego sets, it’s his absolute favourite thing in the world. He will also have some spending money so he can choose something for himself. Daisy has bought him the first two books in a series that he loves.
After school, we will celebrate with a tea party of all his favourite foods; he’s requested a giant cookie rather than a birthday cake. Our grandson, who is also Jake’s best friend, is staying over. The boys are only 6 months apart in age and love spending time together.
Jake always opts for a day out over a party, parties are not his vibe. We had planned to go to the Nerf centre in Manchester, but it’s sadly closed down, so he’s chosen bowling instead.
11 Years
Around birthdays, I like to look back at all the photos and memories. This blog is actually older than Jake, so I have lots of documented memories, which I’m so grateful for. It’s been fun looking at the pregnancy diaries I wrote and seeing him grow through photos I published on the blog.
I’m glad I decided to start blogging properly again so I can document even more lovely memories. I do hope time will slow down a little, though!
I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay as usual for Word of the Week.
My youngest also turned 11 this year – I feel like it is a pivotal year for them. Happy happy birthday to your little guy!
Happy belated birthday to Jake! It sounds like he had some great plans for his special day! Have a fab time bowling! Aww! I love the photos! x
Happy belated birthday to Jake, 11 is a great age! My kids have often preferred a day out to a party and I remember getting Star a Cookie for her birthday when she was 13…we were on holiday at the time, it was HUGE! That’s the thing I love about blogging, all the lovely recorded memories, I started mine when I had my Little Man and he’s 15 this year, it was originally called Baby no 5, but I changed it because I realised it wouldn’t be about babies for long. Wow, time flies!
Happy belated birthday Jake, hope he enjoyed his lego set and books. #wotw
Happy belated birthday to Jake – he and I have the same birthday! Sophie is also 11 and I’ve blogged throughout most of her life. It is lovely to have those memories captured in the blog to look back on, but like you, I wonder where that time has gone! I hope Jake enjoyed his Lego sets and had fun having his friend over for a sleepover and enjoyed going bowling. #WotW
