This month, I’m celebrating 12 years of blogging, and I’m marking it by posting something every day. I’ve also been busy giving my blog a fresh new look and a makeover. Therefore, I thought blog was the perfect word for this week.
After our holiday last week, my energy levels are very low. As a result, I can’t do much physical activity, so I thought I would dedicate the week to blogging instead.
I didn’t intend to update the theme on my blog, but I stumbled across one I really liked and went for it. There are a few tweaks I need to make, but overall I’m much happier with the layout.
I can’t believe it’s been almost 12 years since I pressed publish on my first blog post back in 2013. I’ve been through lots of changes in that time, and although I have taken breaks, some longer than others, I’m so glad I’ve stuck with it. There have been changes in niche, writing style, and direction over the past 12 years. Nowadays, I just write whatever I want across several niches. I would love to start sharing some reviews again and maybe working with brands. However, I’m not sure how possible that is nowadays, with the rise of social media.
I love taking part in linkies and connecting with other people, there is a lovely sense of community among bloggers. Sadly, a lot of blogs that I used to love reading have stopped writing, which is a real shame.
Lots of my time this week has been spent researching, writing and creating content for the whole month. I’m trying some different things, like including printables and infographics in some of my evergreen content. It’s good to learn new skills.
I’m hoping that I will still be here for another 12 years blogging away, sharing my life and documenting memories, and I hope you are too.

Congratulations on 12 years of blogging! I like what you have said about it, especially the sense of community we have with other bloggers. I feel that more all the time, in spite of there being some who have ceased to blog. Some of us are still hanging in there!

Congrats on the 12 years of blogging, that is fantastic! I was so confused the other day when I visited your blog. I had been on earlier on in the day and it was the old layout and then came back on and it was the new one. lol It looks great!!
It is so sad to see a lot of the blogs from years ago have gone. I miss the old days of blogging but over this year I have been enjoying it more with joining up with the linkies from the US. x
congratulations on your blogversary..it’s actually mine too this month….14 years. But I blogged years before too. My first blog was 26 years ago (gulp) I had to write it all in HTML as there were no blogging platforms back then. (It was called Library Ladeez and about life working in a library. It was a special time, I had lunch with the library Ladeez yesterday, and yes, we do have a Whatsapp. group with the same name.) I might have to write something to commemorate now you’ve reminded me. I’ll try and pop by while you are celebrating.
