It’s been a really mixed week; some good things and some not-so-good things have happened. I suppose every week can’t be a completely good one, but the blue skies and sunshine have helped on the not-so-good days.
The Not-So-Good
Chris’s back has been niggling him for a couple of weeks but a long drive to Scotland and back over the weekend made it much worse. By Monday morning, he couldn’t walk without being in an incredible amount of pain. We suspected it was sciatica as he’d suffered from that before, but this time, the pain was much more intense.
Thankfully, work has let him take the time off as a holiday, so he won’t lose any wages, but obviously that’s not ideal. The GP can’t see him until next week. There’s not really much they can do anyway other than pain relief.
Chris decided to be proactive and make an appointment with a chiropractor. He went for an appointment, and it has helped a little, but not as much as he had hoped. Hopefully, with some complete rest and stretching exercises, it will ease off soon.
Mo, our cat, is also starting to show some signs of changes in his health. He’s on palliative care and has been doing really well, but I think a trip to the vet is in the cards for next week. Fingers crossed, it’s nothing too serious.
The Good
Now for the good things, as it’s far nicer to concentrate on those. I went to Daisy’s parents’ evening on Wednesday, and she got a slowing report. The teachers I saw all said they would like 30 more of Daisy’s in their class. We are proud of her no matter what but to know that she enjoys school and learning so much makes us very happy.
Chris’s trip to Scotland, despite the aftermath of back pain, went really well. He went on a road trip with his Dad to visit his son, his son’s partner and our new baby grandson. They had a lovely time, and I really enjoyed the FaceTime call to see the gorgeous little boy. I’m hoping we can all visit together later on in the year.
I have won a couple of nice prizes this week, including this bundle of health products from Viridian Nutrition on Instagram.
The weather has been mostly good, apart from a little rain. I’ve spotted some new blooms on my walks with Indie, and my health has been good again this week.
I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.
Sorry to hear that this week has been more mixed and that Chris has been in so much pain with his back. Glad the visit to the chiropractor helps and hope that it improves soon. Sorry to hear about Mo’s health hasn’t been so good either and hope that it doesn’t turn out to be anything serious. How lovely to have such a glowing report for Daisy at parents’ evening. I’m glad Chris had a lovely trip to Scotland to see your new grandson in spite of the aftermath with the back pain. Lovely to see things in bloom while out on your walks. #WotW
Sorry to hear about Chris’s back, I hope the chiropractor has done some good. how lovely to have a new grandson, we too had a new one last month and another one due next month, one nearby (with an hours drive) the other in Northern Ireland. Well done to daisy with her parents’ evening. It sure sounds like a mixed week for you. #wotw
Oh no! Poor Chris, sciatica is the worst! I hope the rest helps and poor Mo too. I hope the trips to the vets goes OK.
Aww! Well done to Daisy at school, it sounds like she is doing really well. You must be so proud. x
Those pretty yellow blooms are the ones Leisa picks on her walk and puts them in a lovely vase on the window ledge in the kitchen. I don’t even know the name. I love when children work hard and do well in school so well done to your daughter. Sorry to hear about Chris’s but it’s good he is being proactive about it.
Very mixed week indeed. I truly hope that Chris gets the help he needs with his back and is soon back to full health. Maybe the next trip to Scotland could be by train? I’m sorry to hear about your cat, I have an elderly cat that keeps bouncing back from what we think is the worst, but I know, sadly, it can’t go on forever. You have to be proud of your children when they try so hard, not all kids are high achiever’s but the most successful people have proved to be the ones who put in the most effort. Well done on your competition wins.
A bad back is awful but a good Chiropractor can sort it out. Rest is the other thing. Well done Daisy for such a good report.
