Historical Women, Bubbles & Sirens #LittleLoves

It’s been the school holidays here for us this week. We have blissfully enjoyed a quiet and relaxed week which was much-needed. There has been no rushing around and I’ve had plenty of opportunities to indulge in my little loves. Sometimes you need a week without any plans, to just be still and enjoy the little things.

Here are my little loves for this week.

Read

I’m currently engrossed in the pages of To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo, it’s so so good. Think The Little Mermaid but totally brutal, it’s full of questionable, fierce characters and had me totally gripped from the first page. Sirens, evil sea queens and pirate princes, everything I love all in one book. I’m loving reading fantasy at the moment, I can’t get enough.

I bought Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World for the kids recently and they are loving it. Daisy is really interested in history so she’s enjoyed learning more about the women in the book. I have even learnt a thing or two from it as well.

Watched

It’s been all about the movies this week. The kids and I have been watching lots of Disney favourites including Enchanted, Big Hero 6 and The Little Mermaid. We’ve also watched a few films we haven’t seen before like Pete’s Dragon and Planes. I also introduced them to a great classic, Honey I Shrunk The Kids which they absolutely loved. Sometimes a good old movie marathon is just what the doctor ordered.

Heard

someone suggested Women’s Hour to me recently. I would never remember to listen live so I’ve been catching up on the podcasts instead. Some of the topics are really interesting and thought-provoking, I’m really enjoying listening.

Made

The kids made lots of bubbles in the garden this week. It looked like Spring had arrived on Monday so the kids made the most of the garden.

Wore

We have had lots of pyjama days this week and I’m not the least bit ashamed. I love nothing more that being comfortable at home and with no plans to go out it was the perfect excuse to indulge.

And lastly….

After a relaxing week we are more than ready to get out and about this weekend. I just need a plan B incase the rain interrupts our plans.
