I’m really excited to be joining another great weekly link-up this one Wednesday Hodgepodge is hosted by Joyce at From This Side of the Pond
I spotted this link-up on Kim’s blog (Life As Kim) just in time to join in this week. I’m looking forward to answering the weekly questions that Joyce posts.
1. It’s been said January is ‘the month of opportunity, inspiration, and change.” Which of the three do you need most right now? Elaborate.
I think the thing I need most at the moment is change. A lot of the goals I set for myself this year involve change, nothing major just small little changes. Each month I will try to implement small changes that will bring me closer to my goals.
2. Do you consider opportunity as something that comes to you or something you create for yourself?
This is a tricky one to answer, I believe opportunity can both be created by you and presented to you. Sometimes opportunities seem to appear out of nowhere but you can also make opportunities for yourself by working hard and putting yourself out there.
3. The British Museum opened on this date (January 15th) back in 1759. Do you like visiting museums? Do you have a favourite?
Visiting museums and art galleries is one of my absolute favourite things to do. I’ve visited many over the years but Manchester Museum remains my favourite. I visited throughout my childhood on many occasions and have taken my own children numerous times over the years.
I’ve learned so much about culture, history and heritage by visiting museums. There are so many museums on my to-visit list. I’ve never visited a museum in a different country so that’s one for the bucket list.
4. It’s National Oatmeal Month (yes, apparently it gets a whole month as opposed to a single day)…do you like oatmeal? How often do you eat a bowl of oatmeal? How do you like yours? What about an oatmeal cookie? Is that a sweet treat you enjoy?
I’m not a huge fan of oatmeal so don’t tend to eat it that often. When I do fancy a bowl I usually add some honey or maple syrup as a topping. Oatmeal cookies now that’s a different matter, I love them especially if they contain raisins and spices.
5. What’s something useful you learned in high school?
How to spell necessary-never eat cake eat salmon sandwiches and remain young. That has come in handy over the years but I don’t know how I have managed to remember it. I had a fantastic English teacher who was also my form tutor and he would often share little pearls of wisdom like that to help us with spelling.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Last week I learned the word for the winter warming sun, it’s apricity. I also learned that the feathery frost like the one in the photo below is called hoar frost. You learn something new every day.
Thanks for joining in the Hodgepodge today! And thank you for the memory trick! Necessary is one of those words I always question when I write it out. That frosty photo is so pretty. Have a great day!
Thank you for the mention.
I think small changes in our lives are easier to achieve and stick to.
I have a few museums on my bucket list too.
I need to remember that saying about how to spell necessary, I can never spell that. lol
