I’ve struggled this week to think of a suitable word, it’s been a week of ups and downs with no specific word to sum it up. It’s been a week of change although none of the changes are related I think it’s the right word to describe it.
Inevitably, Jake didn’t escape catching the chickenpox, after feeling poorly on Monday and struggling through Tuesday spots began to appear. Although expected I couldn’t help feeling disappointed, Chris and I had planned a very rare day together on Friday with a night away in a lovely hotel. The hotel stay is part of a review I’m doing for Mother’s Day so couldn’t be cancelled, with a change of plan Daisy and I are now going much to her delight. She is so excited so I’m classing this unexpected change as a good thing. On the plus side I won a hotel stay last week which I’ve booked for the end of March so fingers crossed that Chris and I will get our romantic night away after all.
The other change this week has been one I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, the kind of change that saves us lots of money. We have switched providers for our broadband saving ourselves over £15 per month, using a cashback app for the change also gave us a bonus payment of £100! I’ve also changed my mobile phone, gas and electric tariff which has saved us even more money.
Another change I’ve noticed this week is the one from winter to spring. The kids and I have been having fun spotting the changes in nature on our way to school. Trees that were bare last week are now covered in little green buds, there are lots more birds to spot and blossom is already in bloom. I love that the kids notice these little things, the school run takes us alongside a brook and some woodland which I think makes it easier to spot the signs of the changing seasons.
I’m also hoping that March will bring some positive changes, I’m determined to get back on track and start working towards my goals again.
You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Spots.
Poor Jake – hope he is better soon. We are on chicken pox alert as Sophie’s best friend came down with it this week. It’s a shame that your break away with Chris has been changed but how lovely that Daisy is so excited to be going away with you instead. Fingers crossed that you manage to get your romantic break later on! #WotW
Thanks Louise, Daisy loved the night away with me. I hope Sophie avoids the chickenpox x
Poor Jake, I do really think that it’s best to get chicken pox when young, both me and my eldest son had it as adults and it seems to be ten times worse. It seems that most of your changes are for the best so that’s good. Well done on saving so much money. Thank you for linking to #Wotw
I’m glad it’s out of the way now, I’ve heard it’s worse for adults so that was always a worry x
Hope Jake isn’t feeling it too bad….or Chris for missing a trip away. I can just imagine how excited Daisy is. Seems so fitting that you are taking her. Enjoy. Well done for all the savings. Very impressive. Love spotting the seasons change. The dawn chorus is ramping up too. #wotw
Daisy loved the night away and it was more fitting for a Mother’s day review. I love waking up to the dawn chorus, not so much the pigeons on top of the chimney though x
Your poor son! All of my kids had chicken pox back in the day. They are all adults now. One boy even had it twice, and I didn’t think that was possible! My word for the week was change, too. We must have been thinking alike! 🙂
I’ve heard of people catching it twice, your poor son once is bad enough x
I hope you and Chris get your night away eventually. Good for you and Daisy though. I hope you have a fab time.
That is a great saving for your broadband and the bonus payment is fab!
There is so many signs of spring about even if the weather has turned a little colder again.
I hope Jake is feeling better now. x
Thanks Kim, we had a really nice time and Jake is feeling much better x
I bet you and Daisy had a wonderful time away, and glad you found the positive in it. We really need to change our broadband too as our Sky keeps going down all the time despite being on fibre. I’m sure you can imagine that it caused 3rd world war problems living with 2 teenagers lol x
