I certainly didn’t expect to be writing a blog post in August and calling it Autumnal but I can’t think of a better word to describe the weather we’ve experienced this past week. On Tuesday we walked to the local park to meet up with some friends. The wind was blowing and the rain was freezing, there were brown leaves falling from the trees and I had to remind myself that we were still in Summer.
I’ve also debated digging out my jumpers this week, sat watching TV a few nights ago I was freezing which is not something I expect to be in August, this crazy unseasonal weather has had me craving big fluffy socks and blankets.
I think I could be forgiven for not taking the news reports that a two-week heatwave is on its way, I think I believe that when I feel it, until then I’m wrapping up warm.
What has the weather been like where you live? leave me a comment I love hearing from you.
I’m linking up with Jocelyn from The Reading Residence for Word of the Week.
We camped for three days in Devon and the weather was lovely and it did feel like summer. But then as we drove back home in Cornwall, it started to rain and felt very much like Autumn. As I type this, it is grey outside and the breeze is cold. Yep, definitely autumnal. #wotw
I’m glad the sun shone for you in Devon 🙂
It has felt like Autumn here too up here in Northumberland….I really hope we have the heatwave next week. I need some sunshine x
I would like some sunshine as long as it doesn’t bring that awful mugginess back with it. x
I know just what you mean, I was snuggled up under a throw earlier this week! But today it’s very warm here, so maybe the heat is on the way. We’ll see! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
I always keep a throw handy in the living room for unseasonal emergencies.
It hasn’t been too bad here in the Midlands. Last weekend was super hot and it’s been warm all week. It’s definitely getting cooler in the evenings though which is not right for this time of year, surely we should be out there having BBQs at 7pm not shutting the windows and staying in.
I agree Anne crazy isn’t it.
So yesterday we were snuggled in blankets and today it was sweltering… I give up! Fingers crossed for a nice weekend 🙂 #wotw
So confusing I do wish the weather would make it’s mind up I can’t decide what to wear !
Apparently it’s an ancient practice to take note of the nature around us and forecast the weather accordingly. #WotW
I didn’t know that, maybe the met office should take note they might get it right more often 🙂
