Bidvine Review

Recently I’ve been thinking about getting a professional family photograph done. It would be lovely to have us all in the same photograph as very often it’s either me or Mr Webster taking it. I didn’t have a clue where to start looking so when Bidvine got in touch to ask me to review their service I thought it would the perfect opportunity to find someone local for the job.

Bidvine connects customers with local service providers and professionals all over the UK. Whether you want your tap repairing, a florist for your wedding or a personal trainer Bidvine can help you find one to suit your needs. The service is totally free for the customer and provides you with competitive bids for you to choose from.

Using the website is super simple. You type in the service you are looking for, I went with family portrait photography and then you enter your postcode. You will then be asked a series of questions to further specify exactly what it is you need from the service. I found this part really useful as it means that you will receive a more accurate bid estimate.

Some of the multiple choice questions included things like the size of the party to be photographed and the location I would like the photograph taken in. The whole process of answering took about a minute to complete.

Once completed your job request is sent to trusted local professionals who then have up to four days to contact you with their bid. How many bids you receive will depend upon the nature of your request or other factors such as seasonality.

Once you have your bids then it’s up to you to decide who to choose.

I would definitely recommend Bidvine as a first choice when you have those niggling little jobs that need doing or if you want to employ someone trustworthy and local. I think Bidvine is a great service for people with a busy lifestyle. who want a quick and easy way to get a job done.

Num Noms #UnBoxingDay Review

Although today is boxing day Daisy has had fun taking part in the Num Noms #UnBoxingDay campaign. She was delighted when the brand new series 3 Lunch Box Deluxe character pack arrived for her to review. Num Noms are scented collectable characters that you can mix and match to create your own flavours. Daisy already has a ton of series 1 and series 2 characters so she was excited to get a sneak peek at the brand new series.

The lunch box pack has an adorable spoon handle and the box can be re-used as a storage case for the Num Noms. This set also includes a stamp-it nom and an erase-it nom which are a cute addition to the series. Daisy loved guessing the scents and looking at the leaflet to find out their names. She got a really good selection with this pack to start her series 3 collection off. I think a big advantage of this set is that it’s an affordable way to boost your collection without the risk of getting duplicate characters.

One of the huge appeals of the Num Nom toys is that you can you buy them in mystery boxes. If your child is crazy about YouTube unboxing videos you will know exactly what I’m talking about. The lunch box deluxe set comes with a mystery box included which is very exciting. Daisy loves the excitement and anticipation of opening the mystery boxes to see which character she will get.

Daisy also got three of the new series 3.1 mystery boxes to open. She was delighted that all of the Nums inside came with new duo flavoured gloss-ups. She also got a glittery Num which she thinks is the best. The Num Noms Lunch Box Deluxe pack is available to buy from Amazon and other good toy retailers.

Review: Lalaloopsy Princess Mittens Fluff’N’Stuff Doll

Daisy is always excited when Lalaloopsy adverts come on the TV so she was delighted when a Princess Mittens Fluff’N’Stuff doll arrived in the post for her to review. She was also happy to find a snowflake to decorate along with the doll, it was a great excuse to do some festive crafting.img_29811

img_30011 img_29921 img_30061Mittens Fluff’N’Stuff was sewn on December 21st from an eskimo’s scarf. She looks absolutely beautiful with her ice blue hair and delicate snowflake featured outfit. Her cheeks are rosy and she comes with a pet polar bear.

Daisy’s favourite part of the doll is her glittery tulle skirt and snowflake favourite part of the doll is her ice castle inspired hair which features snowballs, a tiara, glitter and a gorgeous headband.img_30121 img_30141The doll features moveable limbs and head making positioning for play easy and fun. Daisy did find the head to be a little cumbersome at times as it’s much larger than the rest of the dolls body that would be my only criticism.

Daisy had fun decorating her snowflake using lots of gold and silver glitter glue and sparkling gems. It’s now proudly displayed on our Christmas tree much to Daisy’s delight. img_30771 img_31241Mittens Fluff’N’Stuff is part of the new Princess series and can be bought at most good retailers. I think she would make a lovely Christmas present or birthday gift.angela

We're going on an adventure

Interplay Fuzzikins Craft Cozy Cats Review

Daisy was really excited last week when a parcel from interplay  arrived for her, they had sent her a Fuzzikins Craft Cozy Cats to review, regular readers and followers of ours on Instagram will know that both Daisy and I like to get creative so this lovely set was perfect for a Sunday afternoon craft session.

img_2154The kit comes with three different sized cats who are so soft to the touch, some felt pens to colour their fur and some sleeping bags, stickers and accessories to make them nice and cosy. The inside of the box can be used for play and also a place to practise your designs before you colour the cats in.

img_2159 img_2158One thing I will mention is that Daisy did get very messy colouring in the cats but the felt tips are washable so I wasn’t overly concerned, I also had to help constructing the sleeping bags as it was a slightly too intricate for Daisy’s little hands.

img_2163 img_2164

Once the cats were all colourful Daisy had fun putting them all to bed in their sleeping bags that she had decorated with the fish shaped stickers and she also put on their little sleeping masks, I have no doubts that those cats were as cosy as can be once Daisy had finished with them.

img_2180 img_2176 img_2189Fuzzikins Craft Cozy Cats are suitable for ages 4+ and cost £12.99 from Amazon.

My #HotterMoment With Hotter Shoes Chester

Last week myself and several other North West bloggers were invited to the Hotter store in Chester to learn all about the history of Hotter shoes and to have a look at the new Autumn/Winter range for 2016.

I’m already a big fan of the shoes, I have a pair of Solar shoes which I wear for the school run. I might be frugal but one thing I won’t skimp on is good quality footwear, you’re feet have to carry you a long way so investing in them by buying good quality is definitely the way to go.

We received a warm welcome to the Chester store with Prosecco and delicious canapes, we spent a little time chatting and admiring the beautiful shoes, boots and handbags on display before sitting down to listen to the history behind the company, the comfort concept and the shoe designs which was really interesting.

img_20701I didn’t realise just how local a company Hotter Shoes is, it’s factory and call centre are based in Skelmersdale, Lancashire here in the North West, the company was founded in 1959 and today has over 80 stores in the UK as well as a thriving online store.

After our history lesson it was time to have my #HotterMoment, to find the perfect shoe for me, each pair has a secret #ComfortConcept feature including cushioning, flexibility, lightness and wiggle room for toes.

img_20671I had spotted a few styles I liked so it was a tough decision trying to choose one pair, but after seeing some fellow bloggers trying on the Pixie boots my mind was made up.

Trying them on I knew I had made the right decision, the soft suede outer and the faux fur lining paired with the cushioned insole and lightweight sole made me feel like I has slipped my feet into a pair of slippers and the tassel detail makes them look super stylish and on trend. The Pixie boots will be perfect paired with with leggings and jeans in the colder months.

img_20761I also chose the beautiful Verity bag in burgundy, it has three generous sized compartments inside and comes with a detachable strap.img_20751Discount Code

If you want to treat yourself you can get £10 off any full priced item in the Hotter range (excluding shoe care products, accessories and gift vouchers) and free delivery by using the code DKETPD online at or calling 0800 525 893.

*I received a pair of boots and a handbag free of charge from Hotter for attending the store event.*

Brightlings Review

Last week Daisy was delighted to return home from school to a parcel, upon opening the it she found a Brightings doll that Spin Master Toys had sent for us to review. Brightlings are soft bodied interactive dolls that can say over 100 phrases, they also create music and record anything you say and repeat it back to you.

img_1923 img_1930When the Brightlings doll is in interactive mode their faces light to display an animated mouth which I think is awesome, Daisy loved this feature too, it really makes the doll come alive.

img_1943In play mode the Brightlings will talk to you, you can also move it around and press it’s tummy to activate new phrases.

Music mode is my personal favourite, Brightlings create music in six different styles I love the yodel style the best although I can’t help but giggle when it says ‘Jazz Baby’.

img_1939Daisy’s favourite mode is record, she loves pressing the it’s ear to say silly things to it then listen to them back, she can also change the voice by moving it from side to side. She never tires of the record mode making up her own silly words and having them played back to her in crazy voices really does make her happy.

img_1933Daisy has really enjoyed playing with and getting to know her Brightlings doll, it’s already become a firm favourite.

Brightlings come in 3 different colours, we were sent the Teal one but you can also get Purple and Pink, they cost around £29.99 from most toy retailers.

Look In My Letterbox

I’m a little late with this weeks look in my letterbox, last week was quite slow for exciting post with just a couple of freebies, one review item and a purchase. I’m hoping it means that this week will be a bumper week as I’ve been applying for lots of freebies and entering lots of competitions.

I applied for this coupon on the Alpro website, it’s still working so make sure you grab one before they all go.

I love this fun set from The Woodland Trust we are going to use it over the Summer, they are still available if you haven’t applied for one yet.

I like to buy the more expensive toiletries in bulk as I find them to be better value, FrugalMrW was in need of some new blades so I ordered this value pack from Amazon for £20.

This lovely box of fresh fruit and vegetables arrived on Saturday morning from Creamline Dairies, look out for a review coming soon.

I’m linking up with Alice Megan for Look In My Letterbox.

Have you had anything nice arrive in the post this week ? leave me a comment I love hearing from you.

Look In My Letterbox

I have a little bit of a mixed bag to show you for this weeks look in my letterbox. I did win a prize this week but it hasn’t arrived yet. I really must try and get back into the swing with competitions I keep dipping in and out just lately.

This delicious freebie from The Good Guru arrived really quickly. I only applied for it at the beginning of the week.

I redeemed two more Argos vouchers from Consumer Pulse. I’m saving them up all year and spend them at Christmas.

Daisy loves it when this freebie Lego magazine pops through the letterbox. Batman is her favourite super hero so she was doubly delighted with it this month.

I love these shampoo and conditioner samples, you can decide if you like the product without wasting money on a full sized product.

I’m reading and reviewing this book from Mumsnet book club. It’s been ages since I read an actual book I usually read on my kindle so I’m really looking forward to diving in it’s pages this weekend.

I’ve been sent this umbrella to review on Amazon. I’m being really selective with the products I get offered to review nowadays but I needed a new umbrella and this one is great as it’s windproof and really good quality.

I’m really happy with this months pop in a box delivery but it will be my last one for a while, I’m cancelling all of my subscription boxes while I concentrate on our savings but i will definitely sign up again in the future.

Look In My Letterbox

I don’t have a lot to show you this week. Up until Wednesday nothing had arrived at all so I thought I would be giving this weeks Look In My Letterbox a miss.  Postal freebies are so thin on the ground at moment and the ones that are available seem to be going really fast.

I’m back into the swing of things with my favourite hobby comping. I have put in every spare moment I’ve had this week so I’m hoping to reap the rewards of that soon.

FreebiesIMG_0251I’m not sure whether to class this as a freebie as such. It’s £3 that I can spend on something nice though.IMG_0252I spotted this freebie at last minute. It will save us some money over the Summer as we have a couple of train trips planned.

PrizesIMG_0253I won First Animals and First Animal Homes  from BrainBox games Facebook page. Daisy and I spent a rainy afternoon this week playing with them.

ReviewsIMG_0254I’ve been sent two of these selfie phone clips from Paladone. One for review and another to giveaway on my blog. I’m terrible at taking selfies someone’s head always gets cut out of the photo.Hopefully this will help.

Look In My Letterbox

This week has been a good week for nice parcels arriving, I have one prize, a few freebies, a few review items and a purchase to show you in this weeks Look In My Letterbox.

I’m expecting the next few weeks to be a little bit lean as I’m spending some time away from my usual pursuits to do some home improvement and organisation, I know I won’t be able to resist the call of comping and bargain hunting totally so I will have something to show you hopefully.

When I was at Blog On I entered a few of the prize draws that the brands were running and was delighted when I had an email to say I could choose a pair of Hotter shoes to review, as much as I loved all the sandals I really wanted to try these Solar shoes with the Memorise foam insoles I want to get back into walking for exercise so I thought these would be perfect.

I’ve not been applying for free items to review on Amz just lately but I couldn’t resist this serum, I have tried a few of the PurOrganica skin products and I really like them.

I also got this facial steamer for free to review on Amazon, going to a beauty salon for a treatment is way out of my budget at the moment so being able to pamper myself at home is fantastic.

This arrived at just the right time as I’m on the last dregs of my usual moisturiser, it’s from Bzzz Agent I haven’t done many campaigns recently but really wanted to try this as my skin tends to get dry over the Summer.

I’m really happy with this months Pop In A Box subscription, I wanted this Batman to add to my collection, I love not knowing what pop will arrive next.

I’m linking up with Alice Megan for this weeks Look In My Letterbox, if you like these kind of blog posts then be sure to check her link out.

Have you had anything nice arrive this week ? leave me a comment below I love hearing from you.
